Both the close attention to details and the process of learning to observe one's own responses and hold them in mind are crucial resources in therapy with children and adolescents who are not able to communicate in ordinary ways. The clinical examples will explore how we can come to feel confident in our understanding of our patients and find a way to talk to them which is true to their individual experience and to the relationship that has grown between therapist and child. In addition, we have a maximum of 10 spaces for delegates who wish to attend this CPD event. About the presenter - Margaret Rustin Margaret Rustin is a Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapist, an Honorary Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust and a Child Analyst at the British Psychoanalytic Society. She was Head of Child Psychotherapy at the Tavistock Clinic 1986 – 2009, Dean of Postgraduate Studies 1993-99, and subsequently Chair of the Professional Committee. She continues to teach at the Tavistock and the British Psychoanalytical Society and also in many countries across the globe. She has a private clinical and supervision practice in London. Her publications include many journal articles and books, including “Reading Klein” written jointly with her husband Michael and the first book about infant observation, written with colleagues, “Closely Observed Infants”, of which a second edition is underway. A volume of her collected clinical papers entitled “Finding a Way to the Child” was published in the International Library of Psychoanalysis in 2023. A second volume is in preparation. Refund Policy A cancellation can be made up to 4 weeks before the event and a full refund will be issued. After this date, a refund cannot be processed, unless under exceptional circumstances.
