How to find us

Victoria Chambers is near the corner of West Nile Street and Sauchiehall Street. The entrance is adjacent to a Post Office (previously Crocket’s ironmongers).

Buzzer Entry

Please buzz the following number on the intercom to gain entry: 013 – HDS Office (during office hours only)

Office/Training Suite

  • We are on the 4th floor.  If you come up the stairs, our rooms are facing you at the top.
  • The lift is to the right of the stairs towards the back of the Entrance Hall on the ground floor.  When you reach the 4th floor turn left out of the lift and through the door.  The Training Suite, Seminar Rooms and the HDS Office are labelled.

Car Parking

  • We have no on-site car parking.  Multi-storey car parks are available at Buchanan Galleries and Concert Square Car Park.
  • There is some on-street parking in the area but spaces are limited and waiting time may be limited.

    Mona Wickes (previously Macdonald) died peacefully at her home in Edinburgh on Saturday 15th April 2023.  Mona was a long-time Trainer and staff member of the former Scottish Institute of Human Relations (SIHR). HDS was formed to carry on the work of the SIHR. We pay our respects to this key figure in our history.

    The Human Relations and Counselling Programme consists of 3 parts to provide different levels of training and qualification. This includes a Dilpoma (PGDip) and Masters (MSc).     Professional Doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. This is a practical and theoretical training course in psychoanalytical psychotherapy with children and young people. This course is the only one in Scotland which is approved by the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).

Courses currently on offer include the Professional Doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy; MSc Psychoanalytic Observation and Reflective Practice: Therapeutic Work with Children and Young People; Diploma in Human Relations and Counselling.

    Foundations of Human relations and counselling

    An introduction to psychodynamic ideas about what it means to be human, together with experiential training in communication and counselling skills incorporating psychodynamic principles.  This course gives unparalleled insight into the complexities of human interactions and is a foundation for the use of advanced communications and counselling skills.
